The products of Eyesiu Care are based on PEA (palmitoylethanolamide, N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)hexadecanamide, C18H37NO2, 299.499 gmol−1, logP 5.796, CAS Number: 544-31-0). PEA is an endogenous fatty acid amide, belonging to the class of nuclear factor agonists. PEA has been demonstrated to bind to a receptor in the cell-nucleus (a nuclear receptor) and exerts a great variety of biological supportive functions to maintain a pain-free lifestyle and healthier brains, eyes, lungs, skin and/or hair. The main target is thought to be the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α). PEA also has affinity to TRPV1, GPR55 and GPR119, and lacks affinity for the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.
PEA is marketed as food supplement for human and veterinary use, in the form of capsules, sachets, chow (for dogs), creams, liposomes and liquids (in alcohol), none of which have instant effective delivery and/or pleasing presentation / taste.
